Rachelle Lefevre Unaware She Was Being Recast In “Twilight Eclipse”

View Comments
Twilight fans weren’t the only ones surprised by Tuesday’s announcement that Bryce Dallas Howard would be replacing series star Rachelle Lefevre in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, opening in theaters June 30, 2010.

Apparently, Summit Entertainment, who produces the Twilight films, forgot to tell Rachelle that she was being recast!

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse,’” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Wednesday.

Despite Summit’s claims, Rachelle denies that a “scheduling conflict” prevented her from signing up to reprise her role for the thrid film in the Twilight series, which begins shooting in August.

“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, adding that thanks to Twilight producers, she is now out of other acting jobs. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

In conclusion, Rachelle wrote:

“I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’ audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of ‘Eclipse’ only the very best.”

Rachelle will appear in the series’ next film, New Moon, which wrapped shooting last month and will open in theaters November 20.

Jennifer Love Hewitt “Twilight” Fanatic: “Team Edward!”

Jennifer Love Hewitt may be The Ghost Whisperer, but the actress has her eye on one very famous creature of the night.

Add J-Love to the growing list of celebrity hotties going gaga over British bloodsucker Robert Pattinson.

“Who’s not Team Edward?” the actress told MTV News while promoting the upcoming fifth season of Ghost Whisperer at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend. “There is not a girl in the world who’s not Team Edward! Have you met girls who are not Team Edward? Well, they are not girls! They’re aliens from another planet who should not be allowed to exist.”

Jennifer is an admitted “Twi-Hard” and was left with a glum face after she missed the opportunity to catch the Twilight gang’s buzzed-about appearance at the convention.

“I wanted to see them so badly, but they were here before I got here, so I was bummed that I missed them,” she said. “But I’m hoping that some of the ‘True Blood’ people are still here so that I can see them, ‘cause obviously I have a vampire thing.”

First Look @ Jackie Earle Haley As New Freddy Krueger

View Comments
ComingSoon.net has your first look at Jackie Earle Haley as the horror genre’s favorite big screen dream slayer, charred child killer Freddy Krueger.

Freddy’s funky fedora, tattered sweater, and signature glove of knives will be slashing their way to the box office next spring in a blockbuster remake of the 1984 classic A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Be sure to tell us about it, because there’s no way I’ll see this. I was only four when my older brother and his friends decided it would be a good idea to let me join them as they watched A Nightmare on Elm Street IV on VHS. (Actually, I cried until they relented and let me stay — but that’s not the point.) Twenty-one years later, I’m still petrified of Freddy.

A Nightmare on Elm Street opens in theaters April 16, 2010.
